My time volunteering
Fresh from A Levels in Sussex, UK to Conversational English Classes at a very well endowed and managed military ethos residential school in the Punjab, near Rawalpindi/Islamabad. Also managed the restoration of a VW Beetle for use around the ample grounds of the school, and became a driving instructor for the cadets on the shell of a body-less Bedford truck. Staff and students, and their families, with whom I often stayed in holidays all round Pakistan were exceptionally warm and welcoming.
The Muhammad Ali Jinnah (founder of Pakistan) look may have helped bridge some of cultural gap.
